After School Care Assistant / Assistant-e socio-éducatif

40% ( 14h30 – 17h45 ) – 2 year contract – August 2023

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise children in the day-to-day afternoon activities, indoors and outdoors
  • Plan, prepare and arrange a variety of table activities during the week, supervise snacks, outdoor play, quiet time and assist the children with day-to-day needs
  • Providing and maintaining a safe and engaging environment with a variety of activities for the children in your care
  • Maintain a physical environment that is safe, neat, clean, appropriate for students and conducive to having fun
  • Redirect any inappropriate child behavior and guide children to positive interactions
  • Keep daily attendance records, accommodate spontaneous supervision needs for families and manage administration in link with the billing system
  • Interest in creating pedagogical projects in line with the school curriculum is a bonus

Qualifications and skills:

  • Prior experience supervising and working with children aged 3-12
  • CFC "Assistant-e socio-éducatif" an asset
  • Ability to use creativity and initiative when interacting with children
  • Possess or be able to obtain certification in First Aid and child CPR
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Assertive, confident, proactive and able to multi-task and take decisions
  • Ability to handle a group of 10 children independently
  • Able to work independently yet be part of a team
  • IT proficiency
  • Fluency in English, with some French preferred
  • Valid work permit and clean criminal records
  • Clear criminal extracts and valid work permit
